Study decisions, not menu locations

AB-730 preparation should center on business tasks and responsible decisions. For every scenario, ask what outcome is needed, which evidence is approved, what the AI may assist with, which human remains accountable, and how the result will be checked.

Interface details change. Durable understanding comes from being able to frame work, choose an appropriate Copilot-assisted pattern, validate output, and protect organizational information.

Use a five-part prompt contract

Write prompts with task, context, approved sources, output contract, and quality checks. Add audience, tone, examples, and constraints only when they change the business result. When a task is recurring, version the template and record its owner and review date.

  • Task: the decision or artifact needed
  • Context: role, audience, and relevant facts
  • Sources: what may support the response
  • Output: format, length, fields, or structure
  • Checks: evidence, uncertainty, accessibility, privacy, and next action

Evaluate the complete workflow

A useful output is accurate, supported, complete enough for its purpose, accessible, appropriately toned, and efficient to review. Compare it with a baseline and record correction burden. A faster draft that requires extensive factual repair is not a successful workflow.

Protect trust

Use only organization-approved tools, identities, connectors, and sources. Minimize pasted content. Verify sharing and retention behavior. Disclose material AI assistance where policy or context requires it. Escalate sensitive, consequential, or ambiguous decisions to the appropriate human.
